What is a wind turbine?

Eco Incentive

A wind turbine's rotor blades are aerodynamically engineered to extract energy from the prevailing wind and then turn a turbine to generate electricity.

Eco Incentive Wind Turbine

The electricity generated from a wind turbine is converted into a standard mains voltage to be used around the property to run any lights and electrical appliances.

Wind turbines are a clean, efficient way to generate electricity for your home, business or farm. They are heavily subsidised with tariffs so they make sound investments for property and land owners.

A wind turbine does not contribute to noise pollution. At a wind speed of 5.5m/s 60 metres away, the noise from the turbine blades is only 40dB which is between a whisper and a normal conversation; this is below standard background wind noise levels. Whether you install a wind turbine in an urban or rural location, noise from a wind turbine will not disturb neighbours or farm animals.

All turbines will need planning permission, Eco Incentive have a specialist wind turbine planning team that can handle the whole process seamlessly for you.

What are the benefits of installing a wind turbine?

Eco Incentive

Installing a wind turbine at your premises is an excellent investment, whether you are a homeowner, school, business owner or a farmer.

Wind turbines are reliant and efficient, the UK has over 40% of Europe's wind resources, during the winter months when energy demand is generally at it's highest, the resource of wind is also much greater.

Turbines are safe, whilst some are not built to handle high wind speeds, our wind turbines have incorporated cutting-edge technology which means that the blades are able to adapt to higher wind speeds.

They are a fantastic investment, the subsidies for wind turbines mean the payback period can be as short as 3 years. During this period you will be saving money on your energy bills as well as making money from the Feed-In Tariffs.

Wind turbines do not produce any greenhouse gases so you can enjoy free and clean electricity. You are able to cut your carbon footprint and contribute to the country's move to a low carbon economy.

The Feed-In Tariffs available for wind turbines are guaranteed for 20 years and they are index-linked (and tax free for domestic installations).

The wind turbine range

Eco Incentive

Eco Incentive offer a complete range of wind turbines suitable for all sectors.

Eco Incentive Wind Turbine

Domestic wind turbines are giving homeowners the power to control and reduce their home heating and energy costs. The range of domestic wind turbines combine a powerful performance with smooth, clean aesthetics that are perfect for home applications.

The modern farmer is often faced with very large electricity costs due to the demand for high levels of energy to power their farm machinery. This makes wind turbine energy a very worthwhile choice for the agricultural market.

The agricultural range of wind turbines have been custom-designed with the farming market in mind. The wind turbines provide farmers with a cheap and reliable energy source that ensures that their costs will not fluctuate over time and that their carbon footprint is reduced.

Wind turbines offer the perfect energy solution for the commercial market. Using advanced technology, the turbines provide MegaWatt turbine technologies in a package that suits the scale and budget of your commercial needs.

What is the return on investment?

Eco Incentive

The Feed-In Tariff incentive you receive for the electricity you generate from a wind turbine means that installing a turbine is one of the best investments you can make, why wait?

As the Government have a legally binding commitment to meet ambitious carbon reduction targets over the coming years, they introduced the Feed-In Tariffs (FITs). By installing a wind turbine, you will get paid for every unit of electricity you generate and use. Any surplus energy that you do not need can be exported back to the National Grid for an additional payment. You will also be saving thousands of pounds each year in reduced electricity bills.

Our smaller range of wind turbines between 6kW and 15kW are perfectly suited to homeowners, schools and small businesses will receive 28p for every kiloWatt the turbine generates through the generation tariff.

For the larger turbines which are suitable for large businesses and farmers ranging from 20kW to 50kW will receive 25.4p for every kiloWatt the wind turbine generates. As well as the Generation tariff, you will also receive 3.2p for every kW that you do not use and export back to the National Grid.

For a 20kW wind turbine installed in North Yorkshire, with an average wind speed of 6.9m/s you can potentially receive an annual Feed-In Tariff payment of £20,782, savings on your electricity bill of around £4,909 and export tariff payments of around £1,268. The total earnings and savings you can potentially receive is £26,960 per year index-linked (& tax free for domestic installations) which is guaranteed for 20 years.

The Feed-In Tariffs that you can receive is reducing in December 2012. For further details regarding the tariff reduction, visit our 'Feed-In Tariff Update' page.

If you would like to find out what return on investment you can generate and to ensure your wind turbine is installed by December so that you can benefit from the highest tariff, contact your local consultant today.

Energy & Micro-generator Manager

Eco Incentive

EMMA optimises the use of electricity from your wind turbine installation.

The Energy & Micro-generator Manager (EMMA) is an easy-to-install monitoring system which can show how much electricity your wind turbine system is producing and how much electricity you are using. EMMA can identify any surplus energy being produced and it will then deposit the surplus energy and either store it as hot water or space heating or export it so that you can benefit from the Feed-In Tariffs (FITs). This results in further substantial savings on your energy bills, optimal income from the Feed-In Tariffs and an even smaller carbon footprint.

The Energy & Micro-generator Manager is able to help reduce overvoltage leading to expensive maintenance costs, reduce noise pollution and ultimately increase the output of your wind turbine.
